And Smashing my PR!!!!The morning of my half marathon started out at 3:15 am. YIKES! That is
so early! We drove up to the start and go in line for the bus. Luckily
the line was really short, and not very long later.. we were on our way
up to the start of the race. On our way up we were talking about our
goal time. My previous race times were all in the 2:45 region. I had a
dream of 2:30, however I knew it was a long ways off. I have not trained
well enough for that. <br />
<br />
We got to the starting point at about 4:45 and settled in for the wait.
We ate some breakfast.. said hi to some of my racing friends. Waited in
line for the potties a few times... you know.. nervous pee pees. And
before I knew it.. Race time was only a few minutes away. Not enough
time to get my cell phone set up to my garmin account. :( oh well...
C'est la Vie <br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Noel, Me and Dee at the starting line</div>

<br />
Noel had a good ol' regular watch, so we could at least have an accurate
time of how fast we were going. At the first mile, we were right above
10 minutes. That's fast!!!! I usually run a 12 minute mile. We hit mile 2
and we were going at a little under a ten minute mile. Miles 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8... all the same. We were burning it up. I have never ran that
fast in my life. We averaged a below ten minute mile for the first 8
miles. That is monumental. <br />
<br />
After that we hit a few hills, and the sun came out. Hot and uphill...
my worse nightmare. We started averaging around a 12 minute mile. At 11
miles I hit a huge wall and I could not go any more. Noel kept going
and I pushed on the best I could. Right after the 11 mile mark, they
handed out otter pops. It was hot, and I was so tired, and that otter
pop sounded like the best food in the world. I ate a few bites and
jogged on. Then.. Bam.. It hit me. CRAMP! HOLY CRAMP! I have never had a
cramp so bad in my life. Usually a cramp comes on just one side.. and I
can tell it to shut up and keep going. This one hit on both sides.. my
whole stomach was killing me. <br />
<br />
I looked down at my time, and saw that I had been running over just over
2 hours. That meant that I could hobble to the finish line and still
make my goal. I hobbled on the best I could and I would jog for as long
as possible. The last two miles were so hard. I knew it was going to be
close.. I might make it just after the 2:30 mark. <br />
<br />
I turned the last corner and saw the finish line.. and the time on the
board was 2:29.30 and I gave it all I had. And I crossed the finish line
before the 2:30 mark. Saying that I was trilled was an understatement.
My far off dream came true.. even though I had to walk most of the last
two miles.<br />
<br />
My official bib time was 2:29.08. That means I beat my PR by 15 minutes
and 36 seconds!! THATS HUGE!!! Here are the times from all of my races.<br />
<br />
Halloween half 2010: 2:45.09<br />
Thanksgiving point half 2011: 2:44.51<br />
Halloween Half 2011: 2:44.44<br />
Timpanogos Half 2012: 2:29.08<br />
<br />
This girl right here is very proud of herself!! That was such a great
race! Noel has the pictures from the finish.. so I will have to get them
and post them later. <br />
<br />
Hope you are all having a great weekend!!Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-4423709831045640682012-07-06T08:56:00.000-07:002012-08-01T10:09:16.230-07:00Fires and the 4th of July<h3 class="post-title entry-title" itemprop="name">

Tuesday I had every intention of going to a spin class right after work
and then running a few miles before bed. All of that went out of the
window when my husband called me and let me know that his brother was
being evacuated due to a fire that started on the mountain right behind
his house. As soon as we got off of work, we drove right up to his house
to help get things packed up and moved around for them.<br />
<br />
<strike>Luckily the fire ended up staying just far enough away</strike>
However, my brother in law and my husband are so stubborn, that we did
not actually leave their house at all. We ate a yummy grilled chicken
salad with strawberry and avocado, and watched the planes come in and
dump the retardant. The fire was within a quarter of a mile of the
house, but it was moving sideways on the mountain, not down the mountain
towards the house. We did have everything packed up so if the winds
shifted we could be out of there within minutes.<br />
<br />
Here are the boys watching out the window and taking pictures of all of
the awesome planes that are dropping retardant. My husband is on the
left and my brother in law is on the right. See the pain of glass above
my brother in laws head... Yeah.. its all red and smokey.. those are
flames. <br />

<br />
<br />
Here is a picture I took right when we got there. There is their
backyard, a house, a street and then the fire. The plane is dropping the
retardant and I will admit... it was freakin cool to watch. <br />

<br />
We ended up staying at their house until around 10:30 at night. So no
working out for me that night. Luckily I went in the morning. <br />
<br />
<br />
Wednesday morning I got up at 5:30 am to go and run a 5k that I had
signed up for. Parking for this race was AWESOME! I drove right there,
and was able to walk around at the starting line and get all pumped up! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fmTT5wMtmzMbTU9n4Yg_TsjohduDKFPyh4kVJLK0OYAhnraENcHsyjqZgAD0VHU5STL6Zc22AGCtR6WUqZ7jsUCwxKgigLXCXGrCE9-Z28z2I7C1ZagSywxnP7IfYMTcxe7RRCl3rXNG/s1600/IMG551.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8fmTT5wMtmzMbTU9n4Yg_TsjohduDKFPyh4kVJLK0OYAhnraENcHsyjqZgAD0VHU5STL6Zc22AGCtR6WUqZ7jsUCwxKgigLXCXGrCE9-Z28z2I7C1ZagSywxnP7IfYMTcxe7RRCl3rXNG/s320/IMG551.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The race started at 7 am and I ran the first mile down the path of the
parade. So people were yelling and cheering you on. They had music
playing. It was awesome.<br />
<br />
We then turned onto a little side street and thats when things got
crappy. The road was too small for that many runners and with so many
people walking, you could not get through. The entire race slowed to a
walk. At first I was super upset. But then I realized that this was just
for fun. I needed to enjoy myself and realize that I was outside on a
beautiful day. It was not hot yet, and I was healthy enough that I
could be outside doing this run. <br />
<br />
About another mile into it, we turned onto a bigger street and I was
able to jog to the finish. At the finish line we were given a metal and a
water bottle. Wow! That's a lot of swag for a race. We got a shirt when
we picked up our packets. I have ran half marathons that did not give
you as much stuff as this race did. No wonder everyone and their dog was
entered into this race.<br />
<br />
The worst part of the race was the traffic! It took me about 6 minutes
to drive down to the race, and almost an hour to drive back home. When I
got home, this is what I found... Yep, Tye and Sheisa... still
in bed. Both of them were sleeping. However, Sheisa woke up right before
I could click a picture. The lucky little devils! <br />

Maybe its because it ended up being more of a walk... maybe its because it was only 4 miles.. maybe because my running buddies were so much fun... or maybe because I got to get all muddy and dirty, and not only was it ok.. but it was expected. :) If you ever get a chance to run one of these races... DO IT! You will not regret it!Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-58971852976958542492011-05-31T08:28:00.000-07:002011-05-31T08:42:19.692-07:00Memorial Day FunSince Tye and I had work off for Memorial day, and the girls did not have school, we decided to take the girls out for a day of fun. This also gave Mommy Scarlet and Grandma Pat Pat a day of quiet. :)<br /><br />We took them down to see my moms new puppys and then we took them bowling. They loved it! And so did I. I thought if I signed up, it would motivate me to run all winter long. Well.. It sorta did. I did train more this winter than ever before.. however.. not enough to say that I was prepared. So I am nervous... to make matters worse.. the day before my race.. it snows. Nothing that stick on the ground though.. so I am a little more worried about this race than I was before.<br /><br />Saturday morning I get up at 5:30 am.. and there is 2 to 3 inches of snow at my house, and its still coming down. I was sick to my stomach... But I got up.. and got ready.. and went to the race.<br /><br />Here is a a picture about 10 minutes before the race starts. The sky is clearing up.. But its still SO SO SO cold.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhLcawcCpS-e07m-oul8HugYXK_RY_UHuvXpuDmSBRLxpmPB93wSL1F9V56A4i3WqyfjwKKoMsF-Farudsub20643nZKJ-7B9x-xGzT79z2IvrtPeXPRYh_qsm0sVrqFnj9g2RNEUWyXRm/s1600/d3b8548c6098.jpeg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhLcawcCpS-e07m-oul8HugYXK_RY_UHuvXpuDmSBRLxpmPB93wSL1F9V56A4i3WqyfjwKKoMsF-Farudsub20643nZKJ-7B9x-xGzT79z2IvrtPeXPRYh_qsm0sVrqFnj9g2RNEUWyXRm/s400/d3b8548c6098.jpeg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601842458294692114" border="0" /></a><br />The race was so hard. This course had lots of ups and down. Not my favorite course, but it was beautiful! Running through the tulip festival, with the snow on all of the flowers.. and the sun coming out. I could smell the cherry blossoms, and the air was super clear. It ended up being a pretty fun race.<br /><br />Here I am.. closing in on the finish line.<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbR6fwhpR7vYbNrW_8QlGgHkw6ljcdgKU5IDY9ehUZfA3Ng6sNYXfXjS-2tzc52vJjoV5kkV-9z_ugVqVxdIj6B7zr_0kV6yIn16bcrhz7zZFXOLB1ySMsDCturee8BTkx3K-U7Gnqz7LP/s1600/DSCF3502.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbR6fwhpR7vYbNrW_8QlGgHkw6ljcdgKU5IDY9ehUZfA3Ng6sNYXfXjS-2tzc52vJjoV5kkV-9z_ugVqVxdIj6B7zr_0kV6yIn16bcrhz7zZFXOLB1ySMsDCturee8BTkx3K-U7Gnqz7LP/s400/DSCF3502.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5601841382122805842" border="0" /></a><br />And crossing!!! I made it! The time on the clock is not my real time. Its a chip timed race.. which means that your time starts when you cross the starting line. I did not get to the starting line right at first.. so my real finishing time was 2:44. That is 20 seconds faster than my time on the halloween half! And this course was tougher!!! I did awesome!!! So awesome that after I crossed the finish line, I started to cry. I ended up changing my half marathon to a 5 mile run and I am so glad that I did. My shoes are kinda old, and my legs started to go numb about a mile into my run. Guess my shoes were done.. I was able to finish the race and I was so happy to be done, and get those shoes off of my feet! Write. :)Its been a long time since I updated anything on here. Here is some of the things that have happened in the Viehweg house.<br /><br />Mark Scarlet, and their three girls moved in with us. We live with Tye's mom, so we really have a full house now. And I LOVE IT. There is always someone to talk to, always someone to laugh with, always someone to cook for, or to cook for me. Always someone to spoil my dog.. the list goes on and on. Scarlet is a great mother, and I am learning so much from her and how tender she is with her children and her husband in the stressful time. Tye's mom is so patient, and so giving. I am learning a lot from her about being selfless. Needless to say, this has been a great experience for me, I'm not sure everyone else involved can say the same.<br /><br />I am running my 2nd half marathon in two weeks and two days. AHHHAHDRHDHAHHA I am pretty much freaking out. I have not trained well enough, and I am not sure I am going to be able to do it without a runner buddy. Yes, I am running this one all by myself. Its going to be a great test for me to see if I can push myself to do something with only my own moral support. I am a horrible push over when it comes to myself.<br /><br />Tye has finished painting his jeep green and he has got most of his parts done. It looks fantastic. I am so proud of him. I believe he is pretty proud of himself too. We are going to Moab in two weeks for my race, and well... you just can't go to Moab and not jeep when you own a jeep. So.. Jeeping here we come. Its going to be my first time, and I am kinda nervous. Tye is so excited it is all he talks about, all he thinks about, and I am sure he has even dreamed about it. Multiple times. He is finally getting to share something with me that he is super passionate about. <br /><br />My Brother Colter also bought a jeep and his family is going to come down to Moab with us!! Can I just tell you how much I love that my husband and my brother are friends!! It means so much to me. They are two of my most favorite people, and being able to be around them both at the same time, is heaven!<br /><br />Tye is doing really well in school, and is hating every moment of it. (That's how i know he is still sane -- really... who likes school) :) He has about two years left, but might need to take a semester off for sanity reasons.<br /><br />Thats some of what has been going on in our neck of the woods! Hope you all are doing great! :)Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-34601753557125390882011-01-15T14:48:00.000-08:002011-01-15T14:51:59.868-08:00Running Running, Runner<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OmdRj1qOyPI/TTIk3zppUnI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/2hxdqpWchGM/s1600/homer_running.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 293px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_OmdRj1qOyPI/TTIk3zppUnI/AAAAAAAAAhQ/2hxdqpWchGM/s400/homer_running.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562549030932271730" border="0" /></a><br />This year I have decided that I want to run in TEN races. So far I am signed up for three half marathons. So that means I have 7 more races to sign up for!! (Not all half marathons!) I would love to find people to run with. Its always more fun to run with a friend.<br /><br />I am not a fast runner, so if you are reading this thinking.. you go girl.. but not for me.. well.. *slap* stop that!!! Anyone can come and run with me. Some of the races that I want to do are only 3 miles long, and you can walk them!<br /><br />Let me know if you are signed up for any races, or if you would like to sign up for some with me!Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-6933144654649830522010-12-31T21:01:00.000-08:002010-12-31T21:11:16.918-08:00Happy New Years<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxJG9wW-riaVGWoboA7GtRkTPdWVvC-AMfmVfVyY5KTMguRrJ6uNd9LPGMsVqlY8c2fi4xRnl9BIkExdT1bax87cqc52GukOmtgnCxgWLRq-sivje1CL81mhxjQ1Oe1MQK2OMv8FJ4w0Jk/s1600/d8c8e4f52e66.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxJG9wW-riaVGWoboA7GtRkTPdWVvC-AMfmVfVyY5KTMguRrJ6uNd9LPGMsVqlY8c2fi4xRnl9BIkExdT1bax87cqc52GukOmtgnCxgWLRq-sivje1CL81mhxjQ1Oe1MQK2OMv8FJ4w0Jk/s400/d8c8e4f52e66.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5557080634888019234" border="0" /></a><br />This year me and Tye got to party with his nieces. It is my very favorite camping spot that I have found so far in the world. When I am up there, my soul just feels at home. Somehow I am drawn there, and I have a fierce love for the area. I would love to spend all of my summer up there. This year Laine and Tade cam with us. We had a blast and even found out how to get into some of the mines, and we found a whole new trail to climb up.<br /><br />I cannot wait to do it again next year!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipeKhwUATaXOJeF_qBGu_0wn5TjM1PcAjuKcxNTg5cj_PCp7rCY_gPDVOG-AGa_og3DMItOYZ46pWYWGjiIUJEVbYfOzM_S-LzJMeJ0NUFR1YqbFLn1DKfklcG5n-WTIFrX4QZwgxRlF0t/s1600/DSCF2885.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipeKhwUATaXOJeF_qBGu_0wn5TjM1PcAjuKcxNTg5cj_PCp7rCY_gPDVOG-AGa_og3DMItOYZ46pWYWGjiIUJEVbYfOzM_S-LzJMeJ0NUFR1YqbFLn1DKfklcG5n-WTIFrX4QZwgxRlF0t/s400/DSCF2885.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513912892508471698" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTUYczcOE5tKsFecEiDBlJnjEAJVp7d8B4d60SogOegvryPtncf7nidCW36tlNfEWAnfkY5YE44JHp-XRiAduW-DPte0sRjO3_1pzejDkYuPTbZ0VuXCz-ZE3EPahMbda0z7HyR7fgIqB/s1600/DSCF2873.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmTUYczcOE5tKsFecEiDBlJnjEAJVp7d8B4d60SogOegvryPtncf7nidCW36tlNfEWAnfkY5YE44JHp-XRiAduW-DPte0sRjO3_1pzejDkYuPTbZ0VuXCz-ZE3EPahMbda0z7HyR7fgIqB/s400/DSCF2873.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513913115940935698" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5g3AW_RqHgemHOQdGqpp3zTBzKaRbFuDzok79J4NO1_bOvkd-zC1Aph5LP9LGFxcUz12TIbQ6DHolhHn_VFAtjXMfykGwojjDLIPA4fpmVHhrzMuRenfggMToe5wyeAGOkzyKk0WIc9YD/s1600/DSCF2874.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5g3AW_RqHgemHOQdGqpp3zTBzKaRbFuDzok79J4NO1_bOvkd-zC1Aph5LP9LGFxcUz12TIbQ6DHolhHn_VFAtjXMfykGwojjDLIPA4fpmVHhrzMuRenfggMToe5wyeAGOkzyKk0WIc9YD/s400/DSCF2874.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513913252390688962" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCcPXewcx2SeOFb7jmtycwygzG2-6gYKEmUH2tIRnEeSI7bqoJT27u4BpAJvTJN9qz1GIHZtoUv7tjOvoHiUBaWhqNIVR7bpRXgUU8q9gI2MyCenP4WZHcIkdm_J7QTCvJkrGgiFlztkOW/s1600/DSCF2878.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCcPXewcx2SeOFb7jmtycwygzG2-6gYKEmUH2tIRnEeSI7bqoJT27u4BpAJvTJN9qz1GIHZtoUv7tjOvoHiUBaWhqNIVR7bpRXgUU8q9gI2MyCenP4WZHcIkdm_J7QTCvJkrGgiFlztkOW/s400/DSCF2878.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5513912241956334466" border="0" /></a>Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-1587546678267110912010-08-30T20:50:00.001-07:002010-08-30T20:57:07.897-07:00Temple PicturesMy friend at work took our pictures at the temple! Right after the movie, he went do do his homework, and I jumped in the shower to get ready for bed. All of a sudden, I got really scared. All of the horror movies that I had ever watched came into my head. I was terrified. So, naturally I started singing primary songs, and I refused to look in the mirror or close my eyes. By the time I was done, I was no longer afraid. In fact, the spirit was with me. I was calm and serene.<br /><br />This got me thinking. Why Primary songs?? I have been told by many people that when I am scared, to sing my favorite Primary song. But why? Sure they are short and simple, and everyone who has grown up in the church, or who has kids that are growing up in the church knows them. But why not say... recite your favorite conference talk. Everyone has a conference talk that means something to them. Or they could say, repeat the sacrament prayers. We hear them week after week. Surely we know them.<br /><br />I personally feel that its the small and Simple things that can have the most impact on our lives. Reading the Scriptures, saying our prayers and going to church. All of church. I know that in that moment, when I was scared, I could not think of the sacrament prayers, and no church talks stood out in my mind, but those primary songs came back loud and clear. Sweet, and small and Simple.Paige Mariehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06053984072464554730noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6630925187406280175.post-84198173389618545192010-05-11T19:50:00.000-07:002010-05-11T19:57:05.225-07:00Ruffle Butt Onesie, and Ruffle Butt Baby shower InviteI have a few baby showers to go to, and a few baby showers to help throw.
